Network Security Engineer

Responsibilities

• Implement and configure enterprise firewall and network security solutions including NGFW, FTD, VPNs, NAT, NAC/ISE, and SASE
• Manage and maintain firewall policies, access rules, and security profiles
• Perform testing and validation of security configurations in lab or staging environments
• Support firewall migrations from Cisco ASA and third-party platforms to Cisco FTD
• Troubleshoot firewall and network security issues such as traffic drops, NAT issues, and VPN failures
• Collaborate with architects and project managers to ensure timely solution delivery
• Create and maintain documentation including network diagrams and operational runbooks

Requirements

• US citizenship required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field
• 2-5 years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on firewall design
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco ASA and Cisco FTD or third-party firewalls like Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Checkpoint
• Expertise in troubleshooting VPN connectivity, NAT, and routing
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and routing/switching
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications

• CCNP Security certification
• Experience with Cisco Secure Access, Umbrella, or XDR platforms
• Knowledge of Zero Trust and SASE implementations
• Experience with Cisco ISE for NAC/802.1X integration
• Proficiency in security automation and scripting using Python, Ansible, or APIs
• CISSP or GIAC certifications
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks like PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SOC 2, or NIST
