Network Operations Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot server and network hardware, including fiber optic cables, optics, and hardware components
• Manage the lifecycle of circuit move, add, change, and disconnection orders (MACDs)
• Execute or manage local vendor technicians for servers, circuits, and maintenance troubleshooting
• Facilitate physical layer installation of server and network cabling according to cabling matrices
• Provide ongoing support for production environments and coordinate with vendors and system owners
• Maintain and improve inventory databases for servers, circuits, and spares
• Coordinate with SCM, equipment vendors, and datacenters to manage delivery dates and time windows
• Participate in an on-call rotation for ad-hoc troubleshooting between internal teams and external providers
• Document all implementations and maintain internal technical documentation

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in datacenter or corporate/enterprise IT infrastructure
• Experience operating within ITIL best practices and equipment lifecycle processes
• Knowledge of fiber optics, DWDM/CWDM devices, and network interface protocols
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix and Switch OS command-line interfaces (CLI)
• Strong technical, logistical, and process troubleshooting skills
• Experience planning and coordinating with field technicians, engineers, and telecom/colo providers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading or coordinating junior field technicians, contractors, or vendors
• Strong documentation skills for technical processes and detailed data recording
• Relevant certifications such as Server+, Network+, A+, CDCTP, or CDCPM
