Network Operations Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot a globally distributed IP and Optical network
• Perform fault isolation and resolution for Layer 0 and 1 network issues
• Manage and escalate critical network events and incident response processes
• Coordinate with Field Resources to resolve infrastructure and hardware issues
• Monitor network infrastructure ticket queues to ensure timely SLA adherence
• Contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards, and performance metrics
• Document and optimize operational processes, SOPs, and troubleshooting procedures
• Manage hardware replacement processes including RMAs and vendor coordination

Requirements

• 3+ years of network operations experience, specifically with IP and Optical networks
• Expertise in Optical or IP networking and troubleshooting Layer 0 and 1 issues
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG
• Proficiency with ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Jira
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Ciena Optical Communications certifications (OC-A or OC-P)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
• Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP)
