About the role
Responsibilities
- Maintain the smooth operation of voice and data networks, including the installation and reconfiguration of hardware and software elements.
- Develop technical expertise in switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, and encryptors.
- Propose network solutions to management that optimize cost savings, redundancy, and required uptime.
- Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including technical diagrams and operational instructions.
- Provide regular network monitoring and analysis to support short- and long-range planning.
- Collaborate with program engineers to resolve networking problems in tactical environments.
- Mentor and train technical team members to improve overall performance and capability.
Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (or an Advanced Degree with 3 years of experience).
- Proven experience with the configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with current cabling and fiber standards.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with access control lists, security posture, and vendor best practices.
- Proficiency with Visio for diagramming and design.
- Knowledge of encryption device configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds.
- Security+ certification (required within 6 months) and CCNA certification (highly desired within a year).
- Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
