About the role
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and support large-scale production and corporate network and server infrastructure in data centers and Point of Presence (POP) sites.
- Calculate and document equipment power requirements and coordinate with Engineering and Facilities Operations to meet these needs.
- Manage project timelines to support network turn-up and oversee asset management of networking gear.
- Create network and server rack face elevations, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and detailed port maps.
- Develop statements of work for vendors and design cage and rack layouts for POP infrastructure.
- Use internal tools and scripts to configure, monitor, and repair servers and network equipment.
- Detect and diagnose error and failure conditions across various server types.
- Provide technical escalations and work closely with Network Engineering and Logistics teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) and 8+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In-depth understanding of IP technologies including MPLS, BGP, RSVP-TE, and IS-IS.
- Strong knowledge of data center network architecture and common data center practices (cable routing, power, and cooling).
- Proficiency in fiber-optic technology, including cable types, connectors, optics, and transport technologies.
- Experience with enterprise and service provider network hardware platforms and data center switching.
- Ability to travel between 20% and 50%.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and troubleshoot under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of various scripting languages.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or RHCT.
