Network Administrator

Responsibilities

• Administer, support, and maintain the University campus network and telephone/voice services
• Program, configure, install, and maintain network equipment including switches, routers, access points, and VoIP phones
• Install, splice, terminate, test, and label copper and fiber cabling in underground pathways
• Monitor network throughput to identify issues and improve overall performance
• Assist technical support staff in troubleshooting network, wireless, security camera, and access control problems
• Document all product installations and configurations to assist with future troubleshooting
• Maintain job-related equipment, tools, and vehicle, and ensure all equipment is updated in the asset management system

Requirements

• Associate degree or three years of experience in network and voice cabling, phone system operation, and VoIP programming
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and common networking protocols
• Experience with network and voice cabling
• Knowledge of Windows Server 2016-2022
• Valid California Driver’s License
• Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, pulling wire, kneeling, and crawling

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Experience with Mitel VoIP phone and voicemail programming
• Experience with datacenter and teledata room facilities
• Experience with telecommunications systems, including voice switching
• Five years of experience in a customer-facing Help Desk or Service Desk role
