About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead natural resource evaluations and permitting efforts for large, complex projects
- Develop transportation NEPA documentation including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements
- Interface with federal and state agencies such as SHPO, USACE, and USFWS to secure reviews
- Coordinate fieldwork, reporting, and multidisciplinary teams
- Manage project budgets, invoicing, schedules, and subconsultants
- Organize public meetings and workshops to gather community input
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and urban planners to integrate environmental considerations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in planning, biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
- Working knowledge of NEPA compliance in accordance with FRA guidelines
- Proficiency in interpreting site plans, topographic maps, and aerial photographs
- Experience with transportation projects and coordination with the FRA
