NEPA Specialist

Responsibilities

• Lead natural resource evaluations and permitting efforts for large, complex projects
• Develop transportation NEPA documentation including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements
• Interface with federal and state agencies such as SHPO, USACE, and USFWS to secure reviews
• Coordinate fieldwork, reporting, and multidisciplinary teams
• Manage project budgets, invoicing, schedules, and subconsultants
• Organize public meetings and workshops to gather community input
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and urban planners to integrate environmental considerations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in planning, biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
• Working knowledge of NEPA compliance in accordance with FRA guidelines
• Proficiency in interpreting site plans, topographic maps, and aerial photographs
• Experience with transportation projects and coordination with the FRA
