About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform and maintain stability and weights & balances analyses using GHS and other internal tools
- Develop and release Node structure drawings to keep fabrication on track
- Perform detailed design of mechanical, structural, and support subsystems
- Determine requirements for stability, seakeeping, mooring, structures, and marine operations
- Drive hydrodynamic loads investigations involving multidisciplinary teams
- Contribute to Orcaflex analyses and hydrodynamic studies
- Drive Node program strategies for corrosion mitigation and biofouling prevention
- Work with Marine Operations Engineering to develop concepts of operations for deployment and recovery
- Participate in external communications with regulators, insurance partners, and marine surveyors
- Lead and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external fabricators
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or similar field
- 2+ years of professional experience in stability, seakeeping, and weights/balances analyses
- Professional experience using GHS or equivalent vessel stability software (e.g., Maxsurf, Orca3D)
- Professional experience using parametric CAD (e.g., NX, Solidworks)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and provide technical guidance to engineers and suppliers
- Ability to travel to vendors and test sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RANS theory and tools (Star-CCM+, OpenFoam)
- Shipyard manufacturing or repair experience
- Experience with high-end hydrodynamics analysis software (e.g., Ansys AQWA, WAMIT)
- Proficiency with Orcaflex and 3D CAD modeling
- Experience with NX/Teamcenter or Rhino3D
- Experience with finite element analysis (NX NASTRAN, FEMAP)
- Proficiency in Python, Julia, or MATLAB
- Experience using AI tools for programming and analysis workflows
