National Director - CMHC, Commercial Real Estate Banking

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary advisor to commercial bankers and clients regarding CMHC products and programs, including MLI Select and ACLP construction financing.
• Lead the end-to-end execution of CMHC-insured transactions, from initial intake and structuring to underwriting support, funding, and closing.
• Serve as the internal subject-matter expert on NHA MBS and Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB) securitization, including pooling mechanics and issuance limits.
• Partner with Treasury and Funding teams to align loan execution with securitization strategies and rate locks.
• Develop and deliver training, playbooks, and resources to enable banking teams to market CMHC solutions effectively.
• Manage a small team of direct reports and oversee national coverage for the commercial CMHC program.
• Coordinate with third parties, including legal, appraisal, and environmental specialists, to ensure documentation meets insurance and securitization standards.

Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience in commercial mortgage lending, underwriting, or commercial banking.
• Direct expertise in CMHC programs and multi-unit lending.
• Strong familiarity with NHA MBS and CMB securitization functions.
• Degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills with experience in executive-level storytelling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate-level education.
• Professional designations such as CFA, AACI, or CRF.
• Proven experience in direct people management and team building.
