About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop age and skill-appropriate music curriculum, lesson plans, and special projects.
- Facilitate project-based learning units that fuse the arts with academic competencies.
- Work with K-12 students to develop their artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
- Engage youth in critical thinking, rehearsals, and community-building through music.
- Coordinate subject-related trips, guest speakers, and student exhibitions.
- Communicate student progress and insights regularly with team members.
- Act as a positive role model for all students.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred).
- 1+ years of teaching or youth development experience.
- Specialization in one or more areas: Vocal Performance, Instrumental Music, Music Production, or Audio/Sound Engineering.
- Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Commitment to the mission of breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
Preferred Qualifications
- Conservatory training or university-level education in a music-related field.
- Experience working with diverse youth populations in an enrichment setting.
- Ability to integrate social consciousness and cultural history into music instruction.
