Music Specialist

Responsibilities

• Prepare and develop age and skill-appropriate music curriculum, lesson plans, and special projects.
• Facilitate project-based learning units that fuse the arts with academic competencies.
• Work with K-12 students to develop their artistic, educational, and leadership potential.
• Engage youth in critical thinking, rehearsals, and community-building through music.
• Coordinate subject-related trips, guest speakers, and student exhibitions.
• Communicate student progress and insights regularly with team members.
• Act as a positive role model for all students.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (degree preferred).
• 1+ years of teaching or youth development experience.
• Specialization in one or more areas: Vocal Performance, Instrumental Music, Music Production, or Audio/Sound Engineering.
• Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans.
• Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
• Commitment to the mission of breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Preferred Qualifications

• Conservatory training or university-level education in a music-related field.
• Experience working with diverse youth populations in an enrichment setting.
• Ability to integrate social consciousness and cultural history into music instruction.
