Music Lesson Instructor - Jazz Saxophone

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly jazz saxophone lessons to high school students of varying ability levels
• Set individual student goals, select appropriate repertoire, and instruct in technique and musicality
• Monitor musical development and assist students with instrument maintenance and repair
• Manage lesson schedules, monitor attendance, and enter grades and feedback into school systems
• Assist students with college application preparations, including letters of recommendation and audio/video recordings
• Communicate student progress and concerns to parents, Department Heads, and Advisers

Requirements

• B.A. or B.M. in music or equivalent professional experience as a performing musician
• 3-5 years of successful private lesson teaching experience
• Superior jazz saxophone playing skills
• Strong knowledge of brass pedagogy and proven pedagogical methods
• Ability to create a positive learning environment for high school students

Preferred Qualifications

• M.A. or M. Mus. degree
