Music Instructor

Responsibilities

• Teach private music lessons to school-aged children and adults on a weekly basis
• Prepare lesson plans and materials prior to each session
• Create an encouraging and supportive learning environment for all students
• Prepare students for semester-end music recitals
• Communicate teaching availability and makeup schedules to the Music Coordinator
• Attend BCAPA staff meetings twice per year

Requirements

• Degree in music or a related field, or equivalent teaching experience
• Experience working with children and families
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to use a variety of teaching techniques to promote student success

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to teach multiple instruments (including violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, guitar, brass, double reeds, or voice)
• Experience leading group classes or chamber ensembles
