Museum Security Officer

Responsibilities

• Maintain public safety, property protection, and order within the Bowdoin College Museum of Art and its grounds
• Support Campus Patrol and Communications Center operations
• Complete detailed written incident reports, logs, and other essential documentation
• Monitor museum premises to ensure secure conditions
• Interact professionally with the public and handle various situations calmly and effectively

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
• Experience working in a public-facing role
• Basic computer experience and ability to learn departmental electronic systems
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods during patrol rotations
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and potential overtime

Preferred Qualifications

• College coursework or a Bachelor’s degree
