Multiskilled Journalist

Responsibilities

• Develop, shoot, write, produce, and edit compelling stories for on-air and online platforms
• Perform authoritative live shots during developing stories or breaking news situations
• Mine the community to find unique sources and story ideas
• Research facts to ensure credibility and maintain high journalistic standards
• Use creative production techniques, including graphics and new media, to enhance storytelling
• Utilize social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content
• Attend daily editorial meetings to contribute story ideas

Requirements

• 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred
• Solid news judgment and strong ethical decision-making skills
• Strong writing, production, and tease writing abilities
• Ability to work under constant deadlines and handle live breaking news calmly
• Proven ability to create social and digital content
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics
• Knowledge of the Grand Rapids area
