Multiskilled Journalist

Responsibilities

• Develop, research, and produce compelling story ideas by mining the community for unique sources.
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit high-quality content for both on-air and online platforms.
• Perform authoritative live shots during developing stories or breaking news situations.
• Use creative production techniques, including graphics and digital media, to enhance storytelling.
• Utilize social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content.
• Attend daily editorial meetings to contribute story ideas and collaborate with the newsroom.
• Maintain high standards of fact-checking and credibility in all reporting.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred.
• Solid news judgment and strong ethical decision-making skills.
• Exceptional writing, production, and "tease" writing abilities.
• Proven ability to create content for social and digital platforms.
• Ability to work organized under constant deadlines and handle live breaking news calmly.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics.
• Local knowledge of the Knoxville area.
