About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive audio-visual support for classroom activities, departmental functions, and special events across university campuses.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom A/V equipment, including projectors, displays, microphones, document cameras, and control panels.
  • Set up and operate equipment for conference calls, webinars, and video conferences using platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Perform regular system health checks and assist with A/V upgrades, including installation and testing of new hardware and cabling.
  • Coordinate with the Network and Infrastructure team regarding A/V network requirements, VLAN configurations, and cabling standards.
  • Create technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and maintain an organized inventory of backup equipment.
  • Deliver professional customer service to faculty, staff, and students via phone, email, and in-person support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or a combination of four years of experience and education supporting A/V and media technology.
  • Strong understanding of A/V signal flow, cabling standards (HDMI, HDBaseT, Cat6, fiber), and signal distribution.
  • Basic knowledge of network fundamentals, including IP addressing, DHCP, and VLANs as they relate to networked A/V systems.
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for diagnosing hardware, signal, and connectivity issues.
  • Excellent customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with projectors, audio equipment, and video conferencing systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extron A/V Associate or AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification.
  • Experience supporting A/V systems in a higher education or complex institutional environment.
  • Familiarity with Crestron or Extron control system platforms.
  • Knowledge of A/V-over-IP systems (such as Dante, AES67, or NDI).
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
