About the role
Responsibilities
- Generate, shoot, and edit news stories with minimal direction
- Produce daily content across a variety of multimedia platforms
- Develop and maintain sources and contacts to contribute daily story ideas
- Report live from the field on breaking news stories
- Set up interviews and appointments to provide background for assigned stories
- Maintain close communication with the news team, producers, and news director
- Participate in station-related community events
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism
- 1-2 years of professional reporting experience
- Full fluency in English and Spanish (reading and writing)
- Strong live television reporting skills and news judgment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong understanding of news gathering ethical and legal issues
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations
