Multicultural Services Student Assistant

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operations of the Center for Multicultural Services, including receptionist duties, data entry, filing, and maintaining an orderly center.
• Assist with program and workshop coordination, including publicity, outreach, supply gathering, and event set-up/take-down.
• Support cultural clubs, first-generation programs, and Black and Latinx Living Learning Communities.
• Create promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and infographics using Canva and other design tools.
• Manage social media presence to promote center activities and events.
• Conduct research to identify scholarship, fellowship, and leadership opportunities for students.
• Participate in Diversity Retreats and other training sessions to develop cultural competency.

Requirements

• Must be a current University of La Verne student.
• Must be a recipient of Federal Work Study (FWS).
• Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, social justice, and human relations issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team setting and maintain a responsible, consistent work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with first-generation college students and their families.
• Experience facilitating training related to diversity, equity, and social justice.
• Experience serving historically marginalized communities.
• Expertise in social media advertising, promotion, and graphic design.
• Previous customer service experience.
