Multi-Skilled Journalist

Responsibilities

• Perform authoritative, compelling live shots during developing stories or breaking news situations
• Develop unique story ideas and mine the community to find diverse sources
• Research facts to ensure credibility and maintain high journalistic standards
• Shoot, write, produce, and edit high-quality content for both on-air and online platforms
• Use creative production techniques, including graphics and new media, to enhance storytelling
• Utilize social media and digital tools to research, discover, and distribute content
• Attend daily editorial meetings to contribute story ideas and strategy
• Write in an exciting, captivating, and authentic manner across all platforms

Requirements

• 1-3 years of reporting experience preferred
• Strong news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
• Excellent writing, production, and tease writing abilities
• Proven ability to create digital and social media content
• Ability to work organized under constant deadlines and handle live breaking news calmly
• Knowledge of the Buffalo area is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics
