Multi Geo/Multi Cloud Application Architect

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reference architectures for multi-region deployment, including traffic routing, data replication, and regional isolation.
• Develop multi-cloud strategies to ensure platform portability and avoid hard coupling to single cloud providers.
• Architect data routing and storage solutions that enforce jurisdictional data residency and sovereignty requirements.
• Define availability and resilience targets, leading chaos engineering and failure mode analysis to validate system robustness.
• Establish observability standards across multi-region and multi-cloud environments, including unified logging and distributed tracing.
• Conduct architectural reviews for new features and infrastructure changes to ensure alignment with global standards.
• Maintain the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) library and address architectural drift in production systems.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in multi-region application design (active-active/active-passive topologies, global load balancing, and cross-region replication).
• Hands-on experience with at least two major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Proficiency with cloud-agnostic infrastructure patterns, including Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Pulumi).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (BGP, Anycast, CDN, and cross-region traffic management).
• Familiarity with distributed data consistency models (eventual vs. strong consistency, CRDTs, and conflict resolution).
• Knowledge of data residency and sovereignty frameworks (e.g., GDPR, PSD2, or regional financial regulations).
• Understanding of financial infrastructure, including payment rail latency and settlement finality.
• Strong systems thinking with the ability to communicate complex trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
