MRI Technologist

Responsibilities

• Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols under the direction of a Radiologist
• Select and operate magnetic resonance systems, surface coils, and physiologic gating devices
• Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risk to patients and staff
• Position patients accurately, input information, select scan parameters, and administer magnetic contrast agents
• Perform IV injections and maintain knowledge of IV care
• Conduct quality assurance tests and oversee quality control duties and maintenance
• Maintain controlled access to magnet rooms and specific safety zones
• Participate in the education and orientation of new staff and MRI students

Requirements

• MRI Registry from an accredited organization (ARRT or ARMRIT)
• Advanced MRI Registry (MR) or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• Knowledge of medical terminology and magnetic resonance safety
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow OSHA standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an ARRT accredited institute
• One year of experience in an MRI department within a hospital setting
• Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
• State Licensure
