Foundation is developing the future of general purpose robotics with the goal to address the labor shortage. Our mission is to create advanced robots that can operate in complex environments, reducing human risk in conflict zones and enhancing efficiency in labor-intensive industries.
Responsibilities
- Lead the motor and actuator team to supply components for multiple robotics programs
- Focus on packaging, electrical systems, custom controllers, gearboxes, and sensors
- Prioritize optimizations for controller efficiency, gearbox performance, and compact packaging
- Drive rapid prototyping and cost-efficient iterations to reduce vendor reliance
- Act as a player-coach, managing technical specifics like tolerance stacks and electrical architectures while planning for scalability
Requirements
- Hands-on technical leadership experience in motor/actuator systems for robotics, automotive, or aerospace
- Robust understanding of motor basics, controller development, gearbox optimization, and sensor integration
- Proficiency in CAD for assemblies and ANSYS for simulations
- Proven experience in prototyping and collaborating within lean teams
- Ability to work in person in San Francisco
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in robotics integrations such as battery charging compatibility or hardstops in ankles/feet
- Experience delivering actuators to varied projects in previous roles
