Motion Capture Technical Director

Responsibilities

• Operate and support Vicon optical motion capture systems in a live-action shooting environment
• Perform daily calibration of the capture volume and camera tracking objects
• Prepare and mark up performers, props, cameras, and virtual set environments for data capture
• Assist performers with head-mounted camera (HMC) fitting
• Support the setup and retargeting of assets for real-time use
• Process motion capture data, including tracking and solving
• Capture data using Xsens MVN inertial motion capture systems, including actor dressing and sensor calibration
• Troubleshoot StageCraft Virtual Production toolsets and Vicon data quality issues
• Collaborate with camera and stage departments to fabricate and attach tracking objects to cameras
• Maintain motion capture hardware, markers, and tracking objects

Requirements

• Proven experience with Vicon or other optical motion capture systems in on-set or post-production environments
• Experience with inertial motion capture systems, specifically Xsens
• Proficiency in Vicon Shogun and Xsens software
• Strong knowledge of real-time technology and virtual production toolsets
• Proficiency in Maya
• High level of computer literacy with both Linux and Windows operating systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex integrated computer, video, and sensor-driven systems
• Solid understanding of film production workflows and visual effects practices
• Ability to maintain a productive attitude and execute technical tasks under the pressure of live-action production
