Mortgage Processor I

Responsibilities

• Process first mortgage loans in accordance with federal/state laws and company policies
• Coordinate the loan file from origination through disposition, acting as the primary point of contact
• Gather and review required member and third-party documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Obtain and verify mortgage applications, including title insurance, appraisals, credit reports, and income declarations
• Evaluate loan documentation, calculate income, review assets, and analyze liabilities
• Communicate loan status and requirements clearly to members, real estate agents, and other involved parties
• Monitor the mortgage process to ensure compliance with RESPA, NCUA, and secondary market regulations
• Coordinate settlement dates with members, attorneys, and realtors to meet expected closing dates

Requirements

• Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with Real Estate Lending systems, policies, and procedures
• Knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing, closing, and documentation requirements
• Exposure to financial transaction processing and customer service (preferably in banking or a call center)
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and work accurately with numbers
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Navy Federal products, services, and organizational objectives
• Familiarity with the Empower LOS system
