Mortgage Originator

Responsibilities

• Originate loans for resale on the secondary market
• Determine appropriate loan programs and interest rate selection
• Collect and analyze financial data from borrowers to determine creditworthiness
• Create new customer relationships and develop realtor and contractor referral networks
• Review loan applications to ensure proper documentation
• Monitor daily status of loans in process and update applications
• Cross-sell bank products and in-house loans
• Prepare and deliver early disclosures for approved loan applications
• Review loan declinations with underwriters and offer alternative products

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Two years of previous mortgage loan originating experience
• Knowledge of FNMA, FHA, VA, and NIFA guidelines
• Knowledge of the underwriting process and secondary market agency loan products
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers and co-workers
• Strong multitasking, organization, and attention to detail skills
