Mortgage Loan Officer

Responsibilities

• Originate residential mortgage loans (refinance and purchase) in Texas
• Work inbound leads from Ownwell’s homeowner platform and partner channels
• Guide borrowers through the full loan lifecycle from pre-qualification to closing
• Collect and review borrower documentation including income, assets, credit, and property
• Ensure compliance with Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending (SML) and NMLS regulations
• Maintain accurate loan files and CRM documentation
• Coordinate with processors, underwriters, title companies, and real estate partners
• Educate customers on loan options, rates, fees, and closing costs
• Meet production, quality, and customer satisfaction targets

Requirements

• Active Texas Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license through NMLS
• Minimum of 2 years of continuous licensing and origination experience
• Strong understanding of mortgage products including conventional, FHA, VA, and jumbo
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
• High attention to compliance, documentation, and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple active loan files simultaneously
• Comfortable working in a tech-enabled, fast-moving startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with refinance pipelines
• Prior experience working inbound or fintech-driven leads
• Familiarity with mortgage CRMs and LOS platforms such as Encompass, Blend, or Floify
