About the role
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
- Use the Bezos Academy curriculum and research-based practices to develop integrated units of instruction
- Prepare and maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment
- Create an environment demonstrating rapport, respect, and kindness for all students
- Use assessment tools such as observations, work samples, and portfolios to make instructional decisions
- Monitor and maintain accurate records on the progress of individual students
- Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress
- Establish positive relationships with families and provide regular communication
- Support the learning and development of assistant teachers
- Participate in professional development and collaborative professional growth
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of Montessori Primary Lead Teacher experience
- Two or more years of experience as a lead teacher or guide for children aged 0-6
- Demonstrated primary (age 3-6) Montessori knowledge and skills
- Ability to meet Washington state credentialing criteria (30 college quarter credits in ECE or valid WA Teaching Certificate)
- Ability to meet all additional training and eligibility requirements of Washington state
- Experience monitoring and maintaining accurate student progress records
- Ability to independently supervise and care for young children safely
- Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- Primary diploma from an AMI, AMS, or other MACTE-accredited institute
- Experience in child-led learning environments (Montessori, Reggio, etc.)
- Experience working with children and families in low-income areas
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Proficiency in a language other than English (particularly Spanish)
