Montessori Lead Teacher

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
• Use the Bezos Academy curriculum and research-based practices to develop integrated units of instruction
• Prepare and maintain a clean, orderly, and attractive Montessori environment
• Use assessment tools such as observations, work samples, and portfolios to make instructional decisions
• Monitor and maintain accurate records on the progress of individual students
• Communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress
• Support the learning and development of assistant teachers
• Participate in professional development and collaborative professional growth

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of Montessori Primary Lead Teacher experience
• Two or more years of experience as a lead teacher or guide (infancy through third grade)
• Demonstrated primary (age 3-6) Montessori knowledge and skills
• Ability to meet Washington state credentialing criteria (30 college quarter credits in ECE or valid WA Teaching Certificate)
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Primary diploma from an AMI, AMS, or other MACTE-accredited institute
• Experience in child-led learning environments (e.g., Montessori, Reggio)
• Experience working with families in low-income communities
• Experience working with children with special needs
• Proficiency in a language other than English (particularly Spanish)
