Monitor Technician

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize basic rhythms including EKG changes of acute MI, V TACH, V Fib, or heart block
• Notify Registered Nurses (RNs) immediately of EKG alerts and any critical results
• Perform clerical and receptionist duties to support the 4W Progressive Care Unit
• Assist clinical personnel with nonclinical duties and patient safety tasks
• Act as a resource for patients, families, and visitors in a respectful and caring manner
• Adhere to infection prevention protocols and hospital policies to ensure safe care
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with all members of the healthcare team

Requirements

• Completion of a basic arrhythmia and/or 12-lead ECG course (or equivalent work experience)
• EKG rhythm recognition skills
• BCLS or ACLS certification
