Molecular Technologist II

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens, including nucleic acid isolation and next generation sequencing (NGS).
• Process patient samples using molecular biology protocols governed by standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Extract nucleic acids from various sample types such as human tissue, blood, and saliva.
• Construct DNA/RNA libraries and operate liquid handling robots.
• Analyze and troubleshoot moderate sample or plate issues using LIMS and instrument data.
• Review patient and control data, documenting results and communicating abnormal trends or shifts.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, perform daily maintenance, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
• Assist with the development and upkeep of SOPs and contribute to training efforts.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies and support point of use (POU) supplies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• 2+ years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience.
• Technical proficiency in basic molecular or microbiology techniques and related equipment.
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, library construction for NGS, and sequencing.
• Possession of an MB(ASCP) certification.
