About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform high complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens, including nucleic acid isolation and next generation sequencing (NGS).
- Process patient samples using molecular biology protocols governed by standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Extract nucleic acids from various sample types such as human tissue, blood, and saliva.
- Construct DNA/RNA libraries and operate liquid handling robots.
- Analyze and troubleshoot moderate sample or plate issues using LIMS and instrument data.
- Review patient and control data, documenting results and communicating abnormal trends or shifts.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform daily maintenance, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
- Assist with the development and upkeep of SOPs and contribute to training efforts.
- Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies and support point of use (POU) supplies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
- 2+ years of pertinent clinical laboratory experience.
- Technical proficiency in basic molecular or microbiology techniques and related equipment.
- Working knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, library construction for NGS, and sequencing.
- Possession of an MB(ASCP) certification.
