Mold Maker

Responsibilities

• Support molding operations through planned maintenance, including disassembling, cleaning, and repairing injection molds
• Troubleshoot and analyze mold problems to ensure proper gating, venting, and cooling
• Construct or rebuild mold components according to prints using machine tools
• Use precision measuring tools to ensure component fits and tolerances within .0002” to .0005”
• Polish cavities and cores to specified finishes
• Wire molds and use an OHM meter to diagnose heater and thermocouple failures
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and a clean, safe work area following 5S principles

Requirements

• Associates degree in Machining Technology/Mold Making or a Machinist/Mold Maker Certificate
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot technical equipment
• Proficiency with measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gages
• Experience operating machine tools such as Mills, Lathes, and Grinders
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a mold repair or mold making environment
• Knowledge of mold design, material flow, and tool steel applications
• Basic understanding of electrical concepts for mold diagnostics
