About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform Moldflow simulations (Fill, Pack, Warp, Cooling and Fibre Orientation) to support component and tooling design
  • Create high-quality meshed models and build representative Moldflow models incorporating cooling channels, inserts and feed systems
  • Analyse results and provide clear, actionable engineering guidance to design, tooling and production teams
  • Identify moulding and tooling risks using 'what-if' and sensitivity studies, defining mitigation actions
  • Optimise gating strategies, runner layouts, cooling circuits and cycle times using simulation
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews and collaborate with tooling engineers on mould design and material selection
  • Produce technical reports and present analysis results to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Participate in tooling GA reviews and mould trials, correlating simulation predictions with actual tool performance
  • Support root-cause analysis of moulding defects using Moldflow outputs and validation data
  • Develop and maintain Moldflow best practices, libraries, templates and workflows

Requirements

  • Proven experience performing Moldflow simulation for injection-moulded plastic components
  • Ability to create fully meshed part and tool models, including complex tool features
  • Solid understanding of plastic component design, mould tool design and injection-moulding processes
  • Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, fibre-filled materials, shrinkage modelling and warpage control
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex results to non-specialist audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple simulation tasks within cross-functional engineering teams
  • Experience working with toolmakers or injection-moulding suppliers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience correlating simulation outputs with mould trial results
  • Familiarity with DOE methods, optimisation studies or additional CAE tools
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Moldflow Insight
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering
  • Knowledge of GD&T, DFM, DFA or tolerance analysis
