About the role
Responsibilities
- Prepare and position patients before and after skilled care provided by nurses or rehab therapists
- Demonstrate safe patient handling skills and competence with equipment including beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and oxygen
- Safely mobilize patients within beds, to/from chairs, and to/from commodes under clinical guidance
- Set up, adjust, and take down mobility equipment such as mechanical lifts, walkers, canes, and crutches
- Assist with patient turning schedules, basic range of motion exercises, and managing lines/tubes/drains during mobility
- Facilitate patient comfort by answering call bells and providing wheelchair transport for discharge
- Document inpatient interventions accurately within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Maintain effective communication with the clinical team regarding patient status and timelines
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers, or equivalent credentialed within 30 days of hire
- Ability to lift, carry, or push/pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
