Mobile Engineer

About the Company

General Medicine is building a healthcare store that makes it delightfully simple to shop for any type of care, providing upfront cash and insurance prices for virtual and in-person visits, prescriptions, labs, and more.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale the first native mobile app using React Native from scratch
• Make key architectural decisions and set engineering patterns
• Work across the stack, including the Next.js web frontend
• Navigate tradeoffs between engineering velocity and quality
• Write product requirements documents, SQL queries for feature performance, and own QA
• Collaborate closely with design, operations, and clinical stakeholders

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building mobile apps with production React Native experience
• Strong understanding of native iOS or Android development (Swift or Kotlin)
• Experience with Expo, including build tooling, OTA updates, and native module configuration
• Proficiency with TypeScript and React
• Experience architecting shared code between mobile and web codebases
• Ability to work in an office in Boston or SF a minimum of 3 days per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks like Ruby on Rails and Postgres
• Healthcare industry background
