Mobile Crisis Clinician

Responsibilities

• Receive mental or behavioral health component calls transferred from 911 dispatch
• Perform initial triage screening and psychosocial assessments for clients
• Formulate individualized, age-appropriate safety plans and interim response plans
• Provide crisis de-escalation and motivational interviewing to clients in need
• Collaborate with the Des Moines Police Department (DMPD) and multi-disciplinary teams to provide behavioral health support
• Establish contact with client support systems and identified professionals
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic documentation of all services provided
• Provide community referrals and assist with client transportation as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field from an accredited program
• 2+ years of experience working with individuals with chronic mental illness or experience in an Emergency Department
• Knowledge of crisis therapy and intervention techniques
• Valid Iowa Driver's License and the ability to transport clients
• Ability to pass a Des Moines Police Department background check and fingerprinting
• Proficiency in electronic charting and documentation
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high-stress environment
