ML Platform Engineer

About the Company

Foxglove is the data platform for Physical AI. Built for robotics teams developing real-world systems, Foxglove provides a purpose-built, modular platform to collect, organize, and learn from vast quantities of multimodal data, creating the data flywheel to safely scale from development to distributed fleets.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and operate production inference infrastructure including model serving, autoscaling, and load balancing
• Own platform architecture for embedding and retrieval pipelines for multimodal robotics data
• Build and maintain training and evaluation infrastructure including job orchestration and experiment tracking
• Drive cloud infrastructure decisions across AWS and GCP to impact latency and reliability
• Define platform abstractions and internal tooling for product engineers
• Evaluate and operationalize third-party ML infrastructure components

Requirements

• Deep experience owning production ML infrastructure (inference serving, model optimization)
• Strong foundation in distributed systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP)
• Experience architecting retrieval systems and vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Lance, pgvector)
• Proven ability to operate with high ownership and make infrastructure tradeoffs
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with fine-tuning and domain adaptation techniques (SFT, PEFT)
• Familiarity with data mining or hybrid search workflows in robotics or autonomous vehicles
• Prior experience building ML platforms or data management tooling from the ground up
