Mission Systems Integration Engineer

Responsibilities

• Integrate diverse mission-specific payloads including EO/IR sensors, cargo mechanisms, and communications relays onto the aircraft
• Define and validate mechanical, electrical, power, data, and software interfaces between payloads and the airframe
• Establish reusable, modular payload integration patterns for rapid platform deployment
• Integrate avionics, sensors, and payloads into a cohesive onboard system including autopilot and navigation
• Own the integration between airborne systems and the Ground Control Station (GCS)
• Lead software-hardware integration and debugging using SIL/HIL test setups and flight test campaigns
• Develop embedded and application-level scripts, test harnesses, and tooling to enable validation
• Support requirements definition and ICD documentation in collaboration with systems engineering

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in system integration, test, or V&V for UAS, eVTOL, or embedded aerospace/robotics systems
• Hands-on experience integrating payloads and avionics subsystems (sensors, controllers, actuators, data links)
• Experience with SIL/HIL test setups and real-time debugging of integrated hardware/software systems
• Strong understanding of hardware/software interaction on SoMs like NVIDIA Jetson or NXP iMX
• Working proficiency in C/C++ and Python for building test tooling and harnesses
• Strong experience with Linux (embedded and desktop) and robotics middleware

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payload interface standards (weight & balance, power budgeting, EMI/EMC, thermal management)
• Experience with data protocols such as CAN, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429, or MIL-STD-1553
• Experience with MAVLink, STANAG-4586, or similar telemetry protocols
• Knowledge of video/data streaming technologies like GStreamer, FFmpeg, or OpenCV
• Background in safety-critical software development (DO-178C)
• Experience with RTOS, ROS/ROS2, or equivalent robotics frameworks
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker
