Mine Maintenance Technician

Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. Through its Copper One platform, Mariana Minerals owns and operates the Lisbon Valley Mining Company, a producing open-pit copper mine located in southeastern Utah.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic diagnostics and repairs on mobile mining equipment including haul trucks, loaders, and dozers
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities in accordance with OEM guidelines
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement corrective actions
• Perform routine inspections to identify wear, defects, and emerging mechanical issues
• Support reliability initiatives to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime
• Execute maintenance work in both shop and field environments, including active mining areas
• Document all work performed, parts used, and equipment condition in maintenance systems
• Comply with MSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety policies

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training preferred
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in mining, heavy equipment, construction, or industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, and electrical systems
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals
• Proficiency with troubleshooting tools and service trucks
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an active mine environment
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Caterpillar or Komatsu mining equipment
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, stick, cutting)
• Experience performing field repairs in remote or rugged conditions
• Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques
