About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections of mechanical and millwright work, including installation, alignment, and testing of mechanical equipment.
  • Verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Inspect rotating machinery such as pumps, fans, turbines, and compressors for proper alignment, fit, and torque.
  • Document deficiencies, nonconformances, and corrective actions through detailed inspection reports and progress logs.
  • Ensure welding, rigging, and mechanical assembly meet quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Support commissioning teams with pre-operational checks and functional testing.
  • Conduct field audits to verify proper use of lockout/tagout, rigging practices, and equipment handling.
  • Communicate inspection results, risks, and recommended actions to project leadership and construction managers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Inspector, Millwright, or mechanical trades professional in power generation or industrial construction.
  • Experience with turbines, boilers, pumps, conveyors, or large rotating machinery.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, precision alignment, tolerances, and assembly.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical specifications.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and API standards.
  • Ability to work at various locations and handle overtime or weekend work as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of vibration analysis and laser alignment.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) designation.
