Millwright & Glulam Line Technician

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, alignment, and setup of glulam production equipment
• Support commissioning of sorting lines, finger jointing systems, and material handling systems
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues across production equipment including planers, conveyors, and presses
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, inspection, and minor adjustments
• Perform welding and light fabrication for guards, brackets, and supports
• Operate production equipment during assigned shifts and provide coverage during absences
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, changeover efficiency, and throughput
• Follow and enforce all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs

Requirements

• Certified Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – Red Seal or provincial equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably in wood processing
• Strong hands-on experience with hydraulics, bearings, drives, conveyors, and alignment
• Proficiency in welding and light fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical specifications
• Experience supervising and training employees
• Ability to work on-site in Nelson, BC
• Ability to work on-call for emergency repairs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating or supporting production machinery
• Familiarity with glulam or timber processing equipment
• Fall protection and confined space certification
