Middleware L2 Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for middleware platforms across Production, UAT, and DR environments.
• Perform incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and issue resolution within defined SLAs.
• Support IBM API Gateway / API Connect, Kong Gateway, IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), IBM MQ, and NGINX environments.
• Monitor middleware health, performance, availability, and capacity.
• Support API lifecycle management, including deployments, routing, authentication, and throttling.
• Troubleshoot ESQL, message sets, and integration flows.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates, security configurations, and load balancer integrations.
• Support middleware deployments on Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Participate in DR drills, platform upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare SOPs, operational documentation, and knowledge articles.

Requirements

• 4–7 years of experience managing and supporting enterprise middleware platforms.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proficiency with IBM API Connect / IBM API Gateway, Kong Gateway, IBM MQ, and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).
• Experience with NGINX administration and reverse proxy management.
• Hands-on experience with container platforms including Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Docker.
• Strong understanding of authentication and security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and SSL/TLS certificate management.
• Solid knowledge of networking fundamentals including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancers.
• Experience using monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications in Kubernetes, Azure, IBM API Connect, or IBM MQ.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments.
• Exposure to Azure Cloud services and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation.
