District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6-12. DCI’s education centers on an International Baccalaureate curriculum, advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on student agency supported by 1:1 technology.

Responsibilities

• Provide IB Social Studies education to students using immersion methods in both English and Chinese
• Plan lessons using a deep understanding of the IB Social Studies Education curriculum framework
• Advise students through an advisory class using the school's curriculum
• Proactively manage the classroom learning environment to maximize student engagement
• Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership
• Infuse technology into instruction via the 1:1 Chromebooks program
• Participate in cultural activities for faculty and students

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• Bilingual and biliterate in Chinese
• Ability to clear a background check
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in secondary education or the specific content area
• Previous experience teaching Social Studies
• Proficiency with G-Suite tools including Gmail
• Interest in IB MYP/DP and language immersion
