Responsibilities

• Generate ideas and edit stories demonstrating strong news judgment, ranging from live coverage to long-term enterprise features
• Supervise and work with reporters to shape stories and bring them to life
• Coordinate and communicate coverage during breaking and planned news events, ensuring security guidance is followed
• Think creatively about new storytelling techniques and execute them across multiple platforms
• Coach and develop reporters while maintaining the ethical standards of The Times
• Collaborate with various newsroom departments to ensure cohesive coverage

Requirements

• Proven ability to write and edit news and enterprise stories
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize accuracy under pressure
• Professional management and collaboration skills to influence across different desks
• Ability to meet tight and often conflicting deadlines for multiple platforms
• Professional judgment regarding confidentiality and ethical standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reporting from or editing stories specifically from the Middle East region
