About the role
Responsibilities
- Generate ideas and edit stories demonstrating strong news judgment, ranging from live coverage to long-term enterprise features
- Supervise and work with reporters to shape stories and bring them to life
- Coordinate and communicate coverage during breaking and planned news events, ensuring security guidance is followed
- Think creatively about new storytelling techniques and execute them across multiple platforms
- Coach and develop reporters while maintaining the ethical standards of The Times
- Collaborate with various newsroom departments to ensure cohesive coverage
Requirements
- Proven ability to write and edit news and enterprise stories
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize accuracy under pressure
- Professional management and collaboration skills to influence across different desks
- Ability to meet tight and often conflicting deadlines for multiple platforms
- Professional judgment regarding confidentiality and ethical standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience reporting from or editing stories specifically from the Middle East region
