Mid-Level Structures Design Engineer - Wing & Empennage

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish wing and empennage designs
• Maintain and modify structural designs using 3-D CAD tools to provide product definition to engineering groups, production, and suppliers
• Perform and integrate analytical and test results to validate that systems and components meet specifications
• Manage supplier development, testing, and production activities to optimize design and achieve program goals
• Develop new design and analysis processes to improve development effectiveness, quality, and efficiency
• Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Material Sciences)
• 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years of experience with aircraft structural design
• 1+ years of experience with the design of composite structures
• Experience with aircraft, heavy structures, hardware systems, or interiors manufacturing/production systems

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on wing or empennage structures (e.g., wing tips, leading/trailing edges, wing box, or stabilizers)
• Expertise using CATIA and Model Based Definition (MBD) for primary structure design
• Experience designing and qualifying composite primary structures, including laminate design and ply-drop strategies
• Hands-on experience with the fabrication of metallic and composite structures
• Knowledge of Part 21 and Part 25 Code of Federal Regulations and experience interacting with Federal Regulators
