About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, and characterize microfluidic devices for integration with biological assays such as ELISA and molecular assays
  • Lead mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and documentation for new microfluidic and cartridge consumables
  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Develop and implement test protocols for both informal and formal design testing
  • Contribute to the development of design control documentation and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and biologists
  • Interact with outside vendors and supplier quality departments to source and qualify parts and materials

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency with CAD packages such as AutoCAD or Solidworks
  • Experience with instrument control programming and data analysis (LabView, MATLAB, or Python)
  • Strong data analysis skills using tools like Excel, JMP, or Graph Pad Prism
  • Knowledge of microfabrication and prototyping processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering or science field
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience
  • Experience in an ISO, cGMP, or other regulated environment
  • Proficiency in simulation software such as COMSOL or Ansys-Fluent
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for FDA-regulated devices, including injection molding or plastic bonding
