Microbiology Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine microbiological testing, documentation, and data analysis for utilities, raw materials, facilities, and equipment
• Perform environmental monitoring of classified areas using air sampling and surface sampling methods (RODAC/swab)
• Test utilities including city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, Water for Injection, nitrogen, and process air
• Utilize classical microbiological methods for the identification of microorganisms
• Execute validation activities such as biological indicator recovery, bioburden rinse/swab, and endotoxin testing
• Maintain accurate GMP documentation and enter data into Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS)
• Ensure laboratory upkeep, manage supplies, and adhere to all safety, health, and environmental policies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory
• Proven experience in microbiological assays and testing
• Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets and databases
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to use a respirator
• Ability to work with microorganisms and hot liquids

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in environmental monitoring and data trending
• Experience in the testing of utilities
