Microbiology Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental monitoring of classified areas using air sampling and surface sampling methods (RODAC/swab) to detect bacteria and fungi.
• Perform utility testing on city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, Water for Injection, nitrogen, and process air.
• Utilize classical microbiological methods for the identification of microorganisms.
• Execute validation activities including biological indicator recovery, bioburden rinse/swab, and endotoxin testing.
• Manage data entry and analysis using Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).
• Maintain strict GMP documentation for all test results and conclusions.
• Ensure laboratory upkeep, supply management, and adherence to all safety, health, and environmental policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory.
• Proven experience in microbiological assays and testing.
• Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets and databases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to use a respirator.
• Ability to work safely with microorganisms and hot liquids.

• Experience in environmental monitoring and data trending.
• Experience in the testing of utilities.
