Microbiology Lab Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and train laboratory employees while fostering teamwork and morale
• Manage daily microbiology laboratory operations, including supervising manual and instrumental analyses
• Ensure adherence to the highest quality and efficiency standards and government regulations
• Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure readiness
• Review and evaluate test data for technical accuracy and compliance with SOPs and ISO requirements
• Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and maintain accurate record systems
• Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, and perform annual personnel performance reviews

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting
• Experience with PCR, ELISA, and cultural confirmation of foodborne pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli)
• Strong leadership, teambuilding, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in technical and business writing, data analysis, and computer operations
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
