Microbiology Analyst

Responsibilities

• Analyze drinking water, wastewater, and sludge/solid samples for microbiological parameters including coliform, E. coli, fecal coliforms, and standard plate count
• Perform all quality control requirements associated with microbiology methods and maintain accurate records
• Interpret and author SOPs, perform reagent formulation, and maintain detailed bench-level observations in electronic and bound notebooks
• Prioritize daily assignments to meet method holding times, incubation cycle times, and client deadlines
• Ensure compliance with assigned SOPs, QA manuals, and HSE policies while maintaining a clean, audit-ready laboratory
• Make timely notifications for public water compliance on regulated drinking water samples

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field, or equivalent laboratory experience
• Experience in document control, the use of SOPs, and reagent formulation
• Experience with EPA methodologies for environmental sample analysis
• Proficiency in microbiological and wet chemistry analysis
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn new inventory management software
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs consistently and stand for the duration of a shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of basic quality assurance parameters, specifically measures of precision and accuracy
